how to enable looping of videos on da:

right mouse click on the full screen video and a popup menu gives the option.

technically, this is how my video clips are intended to be viewed, as playing them just once through is not nearly as effective, or powerful. since the hypnotic effect relies on many repetitions. be warned though. you might lose track of time or experience other side effects.

here's the thelma version:

fav.me/d7ofnda

it's the same project file (3d mesh, rig and camera) but with her 2d fractal morph used as the material. the color cycling is also more intense, he he.

Very nice kaleidoscope effect, due to left/right and up/down reflection.

Hmmm.....   Your reference to "hypnotic effect"  makes me wonder whether

a) you are peculiarly susceptible to such effects, or
b) I am peculiarly immune to such effects.

I once, long ago, attempted to available myself of the benefits of hypotherapy, and it just plain didn't work.   I concluded that I am not a good hypnotic subject, whatever that means. There are other reasons for thinking I am a little off-center.   Lacking in empathy or something...

hi golem, thanks for the feedback, and interesting questions.

i too have tried hypnotherapy, many years ago, and it barely worked on me. if anything it just made me physically relaxed for the sessions. but resulted in no long term benefit, so i concluded it wasn't worth the fees. but that's not to say it wouldn't work for other people.

regarding psy art animations, like the above, i think a lot of it is affected by our surroundings. for example if we are in a dimly lit room or bright sunlight. the latter would diminish the hypnotic effect i believe. i also find if i'm testing my work, while listening to say a video gaming podcast, i will start to become sleepy and loose track of what the pod casters (the equivalent of radio chat show hosts) are discussing. whereby if i am editing the project files, i can multitask to the extent of easily following the conversation, unless i'm stuck trying to figure out a technical issue, in which case i usually turn off any background music etc.

the most (legally) powerful combination would be to also listen to repetitive and relaxing music, while watching these looping in a dark room, on a large tv. unfortunately i don't even own a tv. so i can only test/watch these on a small 15" laptop screen. although, i have heard from followers of my work that the larger the screen, the more they feel they are being drawn into the experience, in contrast to say watching on a small mobile device like a phone.
